I think that display DATA and STRING metrics is not a good idea, because they could have large values.
Now DISTRIB metrics are showed at Metrics tab.
String metrics do not usually store large values as measures. Indeed, they need to be understandable by users when displayed on the web interface. So I don't see any issue about displaying them.
I agree with David about measures of string type. Moreover IMO we could imagine to display measures of data type by request, i.e. "click to expand". And finally - title of this ticket must be updated for changelog, otherwise it seems incomplete.
OK, I'm reopening the issue againg and I'll try to display this kind of metrics.
Look an example of a DATA metric with a large value. I think that the option of "Click for detail" suggested by Evgeny is the best option.
We could also imagine to put it into box, so to avoid scrolling
DATA and STRING metrics are now displayed in a box
